About Therapy with Beverly

1335643751The experience is about positive change.

I’ve been in your shoes many times, searching for a therapist who seems to be a good fit, listens well, and helps me feel better about my problems. I’ve learned that I don’t jive with therapists who sit quietly, don’t have much to say, and don’t challenge me.

My goal for your experience is to give you the freedom to take charge of your life and make changes that empower you to do more and better while teaching you tools to use when you stumble, as we all do at some point.

I will listen, but I also ask questions to challenge your thinking. I will comfort you when needed but also push you outside your comfort zone, where you will be surprised to meet a braver, more confident version of yourself.

The process provides a time of exploration.

You will dive into therapy to address the pain you feel because you want to feel better. Weekly sessions allow us to build a strong foundation for change.

Your active participation and commitment to continuing the work outside sessions will move you closer to achieving your goals. When the time is right, you may consider biweekly sessions.

I use Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy (CBT) to help you explore how your thoughts and feelings influence how you react or respond to life. We will talk about how your irrational thoughts create anxiety and depression and can damage relationships.

I offer a confidential space to leave your fears and worries so you can envision living your best life.

Our conversations are free from judgment and criticism.

During our time together, I will use my life experience combined with education and ongoing training.

Sit with me!

Where you sit for your session is up to you since we will meet online using secure and encrypted video technology.

Many of my clients are working adults who find a quiet conference room if they are in the office or sit in their car for privacy.

If you’re meeting from home, I encourage you to find a spot where you won’t be interrupted. Bring your favorite beverage and make yourself comfortable.

You do need to be in North Carolina or South Carolina during your session.

Am I the right therapist for you?

If you are looking for advice or someone who will tell you what to do, I won’t. Deep down, we all know what we want out of life.

I can help you map out the path to get there. And I will walk with you.

About Me – Beverly Tracy

AdminMy path to this point wasn’t always so defined.

I’ve always been artistically and creatively inclined (Hello, Sagittarius!), so art school seemed like a given after high school. That was short-lived, thanks to being homesick.

I followed a friend to UNC-Chapel Hill and changed my major twice. I’ve worked in a group home for developmentally challenged children and volunteered in a geriatric psych ward. I spent a short period of my life working at a methadone clinic (that was a hoot) and waitressed in between.

Eventually, I went to graduate school, obtaining my master’s degree in social work. My goal was to work in healthcare. I thrived in hospice and palliative care and, later, home health.

Following the global pandemic, I knew there was a greater need for more therapists to help people rebuild their lives. My passion for listening and companioning grew into building my private practice, where I spend my days with people like you – people who work hard, love harder, and want to survive and thrive while needing a little help to figure it out.

Life is too short not to have a little pleasure.

You may find me on the lake, paddleboarding or kayaking when I’m not working.

I’m married, raising a daughter, and trying to squeeze the most out of life.

I’m also a breast cancer survivor, vegan, and avid traveler – and I love gardening.
